I don’t know if you’ve ever had a really bad sunburn like I have, but I can easily say based on personal experience that sunburns are genuinely one of the most painful things in the world. I say that because right now, I’m experiencing the worst sunburn I’ve ever had. I went to bed last night with warm skin and woke up this morning feeling like my whole body was on fire.
As soon as I woke up and realised, I went to find my aloe vera moisturiser to lather it all over my burns, but I couldn’t find it. I could feel my skin getting tighter by the minute and so I knew I had to get to the shops as soon as possible. I got in the car desperately trying to preserve my skin from future wrinkles, only for my car not to start. It was a disaster.
I’ve always been really serious about skin care, and I knew my skin was getting more damaged by the minute. There are very few things I wouldn’t do to protect my skin (aside from not getting sunburned in the first place, that is), so I began desperately calling around for car repair services. Glen Iris is close to a number of mechanics, so I was lucky that one was able to come within the hour. Whilst I was waiting I was applying normal moisturizer over and over again, in a desperate attempt to save my skin – literally.
When the mechanic arrived, he didn’t say anything about my bright red skin. Instead, he got straight down to business and began the car service. Near Malvern East, where I live, there are a few places the sell the moisturiser I wanted, and they all seemed to be getting more and more within my reach. The mechanic finished the car service much quicker than I expected, and I was able to get to the shops within two hours of waking up. I applied the moisturizer in the store before paying, and silently thanked my mechanic for his hard word.
