Tyre Explosion

Summer is the best time of year. I love the beach. I love the good vibes. I love the fact that so many people are on holidays. Summer is just all around fantastic. It’s made even better by that fact that my best friend has a holiday house in Cambridge, Tasmania and invites our whole friendship group to come down for a week every year. Gosh, I love summer.

Actually, we’re down there now for our week away. We arrived yesterday, after quite a rocky start. My car broke down on the side of the freeway and I had to spend ages trying to find someone who could do car repairs close to Cambridge. It isn’t the biggest beach town and so I was lucky that a mechanic could come to my car. I had three passengers and we were all stranded on the side of the road waiting for the mechanic to come help us. It would’ve been bad if we had to somehow push my car on the freeway to get it to the workshop. I don’t even think that would be illegal, but I definitely couldn’t afford to get it towed.

I’ll admit, I was glad that I had people with me. If my car had broken down and I was alone, I would’ve been quite scared. As a young woman, I guess I would’ve felt vulnerable being alone and I don’t like feeling vulnerable. But because I was with my friends, I knew that everything would be okay. I knew that we’d get my car fixed and then we’d be well on our way to party for a week by the beach. It’s a great life.

I ended up needing a tyre repair. Cambridge roads are apparently hard on my tyres, and my tyres couldn’t handle going at the speed that I was. My tyres were old and so I guess it makes sense that they were put under too much pressure. I’m just glad that the mechanic could come to us and that we ended up arriving safely.
